Our team from the European Association of Urology (EAU) interviewed a patient who was diagnosed with rare localised amyloidosis, a disease in which abnormal proteins build up in tissues and organs, affecting his urethra. His experience with multiple surgeries, chemotherapy, and the long-term challenges of managing his condition highlights the importance of the STRONG-UR approach, which aims to develop personalised urethral tissue reconstruction using 3D printing and bioink.
