STRONG-UR joins European Bioprinting Cluster

We are excited to announce that we’ve become part of a newly established European Bioprinting Cluster, bringing together Horizon Europe projects working at the forefront of bioprinting and regenerative medicine technologies.

The cluster creates a collaborative space for projects addressing complementary scientific, technological and clinical challenges, helping strengthen connections across the European bioprinting landscape.

Advancing collaboration in bioprinting

Bioprinting is a rapidly evolving field that relies on expertise from biology, engineering, materials science and clinical research. Through the cluster, participating projects can exchange knowledge, identify shared challenges and explore opportunities for collaboration.

The initiative is organised around three Working Groups focused on key areas of bioprinting innovation:

  1. Commercialisation: addressing pathways towards clinical adoption, scalability and market implementation
  2. Compliance with standards and regulations: discussing regulatory frameworks, validation approaches and standardisation challenges
  3. Communication and dissemination: developing joint outreach activities and increasing the visibility of European bioprinting research.

Projects within the cluster

The European Bioprinting Cluster brings together projects working on a wide range of regenerative medicine applications:

  • STRONG-UR: developing bioprinting solutions for urethral tissue regeneration
  • LUMINATE: creating regenerative therapies for cartilage and bone repair in the knee
  • TENTACLE: advancing minimally invasive 4D bioprinting approaches for colorectal tissue regeneration
  • micro2MACRO (m2M): developing scalable bioprinted grafts using microtissue-based approaches
  • NEOLIVER: engineering personalised bioprinted liver constructs to address donor organ shortages
  • KeratOPrinter: developing bioprinted human corneas to tackle corneal blindness and donor tissue scarcity

Strengthening European bioprinting research

By working collectively, the cluster aims to strengthen collaboration across European initiatives, increase the visibility of research outcomes and support progress towards clinical translation and regulatory readiness. Together, we contribute to advancing innovative bioprinting technologies with strong potential for future clinical impact.

For us, participation reinforces our role within this European ecosystem. It supports our mission to advance regenerative solutions for reconstructive urology, while collaborating on broader bioprinting technologies for future healthcare applications.
